Call for Submissions

Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover puts out a Call for Submissions every fall for artwork in our space. Please check back in September 2026 for updates and further information. We maintain two gallery spaces: the box office and the long bar galleries. We are particularly interested in showcasing the talent of local & indigenous artists, and we welcome a variety of mediums, including sculpture, paintings, beadwork, and more.

Dan Stewart

Dan Stewart

Dan Stewart was born and raised in Haldimand–Norfolk County, where he continues to live and create. A retired industrial millwright, he discovered painting later in life, taking up watercolour about ten years ago as retirement approached. Since then, he has studied privately with local artist Susan Bond and completed courses at the Dundas Valley School of Art and Off the Wall in Stratford. While watercolour remains his foundation, Dan now explores oils and mixed media. Inspired by the landscapes of Lake Erie, he often finds ideas while cycling local trails with his Chihuahua, Pippy, riding along in her basket.

Heather Verplanke

Heather Verplanke was born in Brantford, Ontario, and currently works out of her studio space in Port Dover. Heather graduated from Sheridan College in 2004 with a degree in Technical Illustration. She spent several years employed as an industrial illustrator in the heavy machinery field. Heather now teaches drawing, painting and illustration privately as well as at galleries and art schools to students of all ages. She is the recipient of multiple awards and grants, including several from the Ontario Arts Council. She has had showings at various galleries, including Lighthouse Festival Theatre and the Waterford Old Town Hall, as well as a joint show at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brantford and the Cotton Factory of Hamilton.

Dan Nuttall

Daniel Nuttall

Dan Nuttall has a professional background in the natural sciences and design. Much of his art practice is rooted in this background, and unsurprisingly, his work tends to focus on issues such as ecology, biodiversity, the beauty of nature, and perceptions of landscape. Of late, Dan has been doing more sculpture than painting – spending a lot of time in rural southwestern Ontario. A member of the Norfolk Potters’ Guild in Norfolk County, Ontario, his renderings of the purely sensual experience of beauty in nature have a deeper underlying concern for the planet and its ecology. You can follow Dan on Instagram @dandoescreative.

Suzanne Earls

Suzanne Earls is an Norfolk County-based visual artist whose work explores light, landscape, and moments of connection. Working primarily in glass mosaic and acrylic painting, she is drawn to the expressive potential of fragmented materials—assembling pieces of colour, texture, and reflection into cohesive images that invite introspection .

Alongside her studio practice, Earls has participated in exhibitions, completed large commissioned works for public institutions, and contributed to community art initiatives and facilitated art workshops on 4 continents. Her work reflects a belief that art can be both contemplative and connective—an opportunity to pause, notice small details, and find beauty in unexpected places.

She creates under the studio name Pieceful Arts.

Kim Schott

Kim Schott

Kim Schott is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Port Dover, Ontario. Her work explores renewal, resilience, and transformation using natural eggshells as both material and metaphor. Each piece is hand-painted, intentionally broken, and carefully reassembled into abstract compositions that celebrate imperfection and repair, inspired by the philosophy of Kintsugi. Influenced by seasonal change and the landscapes of Lake Erie, Kim creates textured works that invite quiet reflection. After two decades as a business owner, she now works full-time from her Port Dover studio, with her art featured in exhibitions and private collections.
