Meet the Cast of Where You Are | Caroline Toal as Beth

This being her second time on the Lighthouse stage, Caroline Toal is loving her time in Port Dover and is excited for the opening of Where You Are tomorrow. She previously appeared in our production of Early August and she’s also appeared in Blackbird (Theatre Aquarius), Scout in To Kill A Mockingbird, Hana in Hana’s Suitcase (Young People’s Theatre), and Bonnie in Stag & Doe (Theatre Orangeville/Theatre Collingwood). We chatted with Caroline about who is most like their character, what she loves about her character, and who would play her in her life story.

Lighthouse Festival (LF): Who in the show is most like their character?

Caroline Toal (CT): I think Mel may be most like her character. She is so funny in real life, just like Susanne and it really shows in her portrayal of this character.

(LF): What’s going to surprise people about this show?

(CT): I think that audiences will be surprised by how ‘Where You Are’ can swing from pure comedy to a truly heartfelt moment in an instant.

(LF): What do you love about this character?

(CT): I love that my character, Beth, is awkward, uptight, and a bit uncomfortable in her skin. I don’t usually get to play this kind of character, so it’s really fun for me!

(LF):  If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?

(CT):  I would love to do a show called ‘Constellations’ by Nick Payne. It’s a beautiful play.

(LF): If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

(CT): Tatiana Maslany for sure!
